This is an introductory course to the art of theatrical improvisation.  It covers techniques from a Johnstonian perspective, as well as preparation for both short and long form structures.  Improvisational character work through masks and through non-mask work is touched on.  This is primarily a studio course, emphasizing performance. 

Introduction to Theatre introduces theatre as an art form, exploring the collaboration process involved with playwrights, directors, actors, designers, technicians and the development by which the text is transformed to the stage. Includes attendance at theatre productions both on and off campus. Does not count towards the Theatre major.
