An investigation of the political, social, and cultural history of Western Eurasia from the Bronze Age until Late Antiquity. Topics covered include the Ancient Near East, Classical Greek Civilization, the Hellenistic era, the evolution of Roman state and empire, the Pax Romana, the rise of Christianity, and the transformation of the ancient world in Late Antiquity. The class will likely utilize ""Reacting to the Past"" historical simulations.
