This course focuses on essential topics in early literacy development in prekindergarten and kindergarten children, including print concepts, phonological awareness, spelling, letter and word recognition, vocabulary, handwriting, comprehension, and composition, and addresses the whole learner with specific attention to cognitive, neurological, physical, behavioral, social, and emotional needs. This course addresses diverse learners within an engaged learning environment as well as curricular resources and design, assessment tools and interventions, and instructional approaches and technology.
